Thorny Lake 10 (The Revolution)
Final Episode
Four days later, two uniformed men were at the door knocking.
I hid while Houghton walked to the door to open.
Are you Mr. Houghton Joel?
Yes sir.
"How can I help you?" "Is that your kid?"
"Oh yes!"
David left the car to embrace his dad. "Holding your son would not be necessary,"
Here! (handed him a Card).
He said, "give him a call when he comes home"
" Who?"
" Mr. Lukas", the officer replied.
They both turned toward their car to leave and then they noticed movements by the corner, some flowers dropped off the tree as a result of the movement.
" Is any home besides you?"
"No sir, not presently"
" But can we take a look?"
" Go ahead sirs"
They walked round the house, checked properly.
They found nobody
"Just give him a call yeah?"
" Yes sir"
They drove off.
I saw them leave and then I walked back home.
" David!" My man,
I knelt down to give him a hug, before then he jumped to embrace me.
I played with his hair
" Did they hurt you?"
"The first day they did a little but after that, he took care of me
I even made new friends; Kate and Kierra"
"That’s good, boy! I miss them too"
"Uncle! you know them?"
"I do"
"How?"
"David! come inside" his dad interrupted. We all went in.
we were happy, we sang, we praised, we prayed.
God truly answers prayer you know.
The Audience were cold, some were in tears and some were about to cry; holding their spouses arms. I continued.
We had earlier prayed for deliverance from any form of captivity, we prayed for David’s release; we fasted three days.
We were still on fast when David returned to us in piece.
God hears; if we humble ourselves and confess our sins, he would hear our prayers, cleanse our lives, our land too.
We held our hands together to pray with thankful heart.
David was back to us, my loved ones were okay though with a wrecked house but I guess life was better.
Where do I go from here?
I was in these thoughts for hours.
"Kola!"
"Yes"
"It’s time you leave, break free!
you have a life to live, you know"
I exhaled deeply, "I know right?"
"I don’t know where........"
" I’ve savings buried in the oak tree to which you were seated the day David was taken, I want you to have it" he interrupted.
" Me! "
I was speechless; I was dazed, happy at the same time, surprised too, glad too.
I didn’t know if I was to hug him, carry him or shake him.
I don’t know, but I guess I did the three.
The Yorubas have a saying,
They say; “what you are looking for in Sokoto is in your Sokoto.
The answers to my prayers were right there with me; under my nose.
Mr. Houghton Joel gave $100,000 to me. (Laughs) mystery $100,000 right?
2004 I flew in to Nigeria to have my life started all over again.
The audience clapped, some stood, some shouted, some were in tears for pity, some smiled.
After my story, I addressed the crowd; "Never give up, Keep fighting!"
My pregnant wife, Lola nodded positively in agreement.
